And So, This is Christmas

It is not what we get,

It is what we got,

Because we were without hope,

This gift is eternity.

No fancy packages,

No delicacies made from fine ingredients,

A barn, and some animals and what they leave behind,

A king ? Some think not!

If I can only have the veil lifted from my mirrored gaze,

and see the simplicity in the manger,

How is this possible, I really can’t fathom,

Shouldn’t there be a lot more to it?

Surely there should be fanfare and pomp

Pronouncements and decorations, speeches and tradition

Accepting a gift… really?

A simple thank you … maybe not so simple,

Maybe we wish we could send this one back,

Maybe accepting this gift brings to light,

All the things we simply can not accept.

My wish for me and for you is that we experience His Presence in our/your celebrations and that the gift we unwrap is finding that Baby Jesus has been there waiting to be accepted and inexplicable Joy to beĀ  unleashed in your present.
